Plant Your Own Farm

Agrihood’s 1.7-acre urban farm is now a thriving centerpiece of the community—an active, living tribute to Santa Clara’s rich agricultural heritage. Built on the historic former UC Davis Bay Area Research and Extension Center (BAREC) site, the farm is designed to provide fresh, healthy food and outdoor wellness opportunities to Agrihood residents and the surrounding neighborhood.

Since opening in 2023, the farm has begun distributing produce directly to residents of the affordable housing community, with a focus on low-income seniors and veterans. Cultivation, harvest, and educational programming are managed by local partners who help ensure that the farm serves as both a food source and a place for community connection.

organic and regenerative practices

The farm is managed using organic and regenerative practices, including:

  • Three crop rotations per year for a steady supply of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and nuts.
  • Native hedgerows to encourage pollination and support natural pest control.
  • Composting and vermicomposting programs that enrich the soil and promote healthy, sustainable farming.

More than just a source of nourishment, the Agrihood farm is a place for gathering, learning, and growing together—fulfilling a central promise of this community-driven project.
